Form 26AS: Definition, Meaning & Guide for Indian Businesses
Form 26AS is your consolidated annual tax statement showing all TDS, TCS, advance tax, and high-value transactions reported against your PAN.
What is Form 26AS?
Form 26AS is a consolidated annual tax statement maintained by the Income Tax Department for every PAN. It shows TDS deducted against you (by your employer, banks, clients), TCS collected from you, advance tax paid, self-assessment tax paid, and refunds received. It is also called the tax passbook. Before filing your ITR, always reconcile Form 26AS with your books to make sure all TDS credits are visible. If a deductor has not filed their return, the TDS will not show in your 26AS, and you cannot claim the credit. Access it through the income tax e-filing portal or the TRACES website.
